Ahead of its showing at Comic-Con in San Diego, StarWars.com has announced the main cast for the upcoming game, Star Wars Zero Company. This squad tactics game, developed by former Firaxis XCOM veterans, features some familiar voices for fans of the franchise. Notably, Dee Bradley Baker and Matt Lanter will reprise their iconic roles as clone troopers and Anakin Skywalker, respectively.
Baker has been a staple in the Star Wars universe, voicing every clone trooper for over a decade. His ability to bring life to both named clones and background characters has been a highlight in shows like Dave Filoni's The Clone Wars. In Zero Company, he will voice Trick, one of the game's RPG-like story companions.
Lanter's portrayal of Anakin Skywalker in the animated series has also left a lasting impression. During my hands-on experience with Zero Company back in February, I immediately recognized Baker as Trick. The announcement that Anakin would appear in the game has sparked curiosity about how his character will be integrated into the gameplay.
The cast also includes Vic Michaelis, known for his work in the Dropout universe, who will voice Runa Blask. Runa is described as an insufferable, rude former Separatist agent and serves as an advisor at your base, making her a standout character from my gameplay experience.
Other notable cast members include Alex McKenna (Sadie Adler in Red Dead 2), Judy Alice Lee (Melinoë in Hades 2), and D.C. Douglas (Albert Wesker in Resident Evil, Legion in Mass Effect).
The strong cast is crucial as Zero Company aims to blend cinematic storytelling with hardcore tactical gameplay. Based on my experience, it seems to be a promising combination. The game is set to release on August 27 for a price of $50. In the meantime, you can wishlist it on Steam.
